F.A.Q.

What kind of rental boats do you offer?

We offer Bennington triple tube pontoons with 150HP Yamaha motors.

How far in advance do I need to make a reservation?

​Reservations are strongly recommended at least a week in advance.

Am I able to add any tubes/floats with my reservation?

No, we do not allow any pull behinds on our rentals.

What happens if it rains on my rental day?

​If it rains the day of the reservation, you’ll have two options. You can either refund the deposit, or move your deposit for another day. Please give us a call and make arrangements no less than ONE HOUR prior to your rental start time.

Do you allow pets on your rental boats?

​We love our fur children just as much as you do, but we DO NOT allow pets on our rentals.

Am I allowed to have alcohol on the boat?

Yes, alcohol is permitted. Please drink responsibly.

Do my kids have to wear a life vest?

​YES! Kids 13 and under MUST wear a life vest the entire time while aboard one of our vessels.

How many passengers do your boats carry?

Our Bennington pontoons are rated to carry 12 passengers (or a max weight around 1800lbs). However, we limit the number of passengers to 8 for safety and comfort.

What are the requirements to rent a boat?

You MUST be 26 years of age or older.

When will I receive my security deposit refund?

We process security deposit refunds (after gas expenses have been removed) the next business day upon return of the rental. It may take 7-10 business days for your bank to process the refund to your account.

Please keep in mind that in some situations a security deposit is not refunded due to damages or other fees incurred. You will be notified if this is the case.

 

If you have not received your refund after 10 business days please feel free to reach out to us for assistance.

​Do I have to pay for gas?

Yes. You will start off your rental with a full tank of gas. Once you dock at the end of the day, our Boat Captain will fill the tank and the amount of gas you used will be deducted from your security deposit. 

Can I listen to music?

Absolutely! Our boats provide an auxiliary plug (headphone port) and bluetooth capability.

​When playing music on the lake, please keep the volume at a respectful level. Sound carries easily across the water, so please be mindful of lake residents when playing music in coves.

Do I need to bring a life vest?

​Adult life vests will be provided. Any participants under 30 lbs will need to bring their own life vests.  We highly recommend all passengers wear a life jacket while swimming in the lake, regardless of swimming capability.

How will I know how to operate the boat?

You won't! Thats what is unique about The Lake Pontoon Rentals. We supply a licensed boat captain with every trip. Your captain will meet you at the dock and will be with you throughout your usage. Our captains are experienced drivers of Lake Norman who always keep safety as a top priority.

Will I have to place a deposit in addition to the rental fee?

YES! All rentals required a $250 deposit in addition to the rental fee. Gas will be deducted from your deposit.

In the event that I have to cancel my reservation, is my deposit refundable?

Yes, cancellations MUST be made (by email ONLY) at least 2 days (48 hours) in advance to receive a full refund of the deposit. Cancellations made inside 48 hours in your rental will forfeit the security deposit.

Do you rent the boat without boat captains?

No. All rental pricing includes a boat captain. We do not allow rentals without them!

​Can I bring a grill?

​No. You are welcome to bring snacks and food, but we do not permit grills.

What if I damage something on the boat?

If there is damage to the boat, we ask you to call us immediately and inform us. We want you and our boats to come back the same way they went out, but damage sometimes does happen. REMEMBER: If the boat is damaged, the person renting the boat is responsible for paying the damage.
